If you’ve been struggling with loud snoring, excessive daytime fatigue, or waking up feeling
anything but refreshed, your healthcare provider may recommend a sleep study. Sleep studies
are one of the best ways to diagnose sleep disorders and determine the right treatment plan.
At Eastern Iowa Sleep Center, we offer several types of sleep testing based on your symptoms
and medical needs.

In-Lab Sleep Study
An in-lab sleep study is performed overnight at our sleep center. While you sleep in a
comfortable, private room, specialized equipment monitors your breathing, heart rate, brain
activity, oxygen levels, and muscle movements. This type of study provides a comprehensive
evaluation and can help diagnose conditions such as sleep apnea, narcolepsy, and periodic limb
movement disorder.

Home Sleep Apnea Test
For many patients with suspected obstructive sleep apnea, a Home Sleep Apnea Test (HSAT)
offers a convenient alternative. This test allows you to sleep in your own bed while wearing
portable monitoring equipment. After the study is complete, our team reviews the results to
determine whether sleep apnea is present.

Which Test Is Right for You?
The type of sleep study you need depends on your symptoms and your provider’s
recommendation. Some patients benefit from the convenience of home testing, while others
require the more detailed information collected during an overnight sleep study.

The good news is that both testing options are designed with one goal in mind—finding answers
so you can get the quality sleep you deserve.

If you’ve been living with loud snoring, daytime fatigue, or restless nights, don’t ignore the signs.
